Hotel & Room
We stayed in a Deluxe Room which had two sizeable double beds. It was evident the room had been recently been refurbished and the use of bright colours helped create a fine, bright ambiance. The modern air conditioning unit had it’s own remote control which enabled us to set the room temperature to that which most suited us.
The amenities were typical of a 5* property and included satellite tv, CD/DVD player, i-pod docking station, coffee maker hairdryer etc. There we even bathrobes & slippers ! Room service is provided 24 hours per day
The mini-bar, which was re-stocked on a regular basis, contained beers, soft drinks and bottled water.
My wife was very pleased to find a hairdryer in the room. Even though she had taken her own with her, the low voltage in Dominican Republic meant it would not work to it’s full potential.
Jamaica Jamboree
When I arrived at Gatwick airport on a damp, cold November morning, I was feeling nervous but also very excited about what the next few days had in store, as this was my first trip to Jamaica. It was a pleasant surprise to be upgraded to World traveler plus on the flight, which made 9 hour journey to Kingston a very relaxing and comfortable experience. The long transfer from the airport gave me the opportunity to see the sights of the lush green tropical landscape that Jamaica has to offer. When we arrived at Breezes Montego Bay Hotel we were greeted by the friendly staff and were soon in our rooms to settle down for a very welcome sleep. continue reading…
Barbados Experience

Dover beach in September
This is going to be my first trip to Barbados and despite having travelled around the Caribbean on several occasions before I’m still nervous about what the next 7 days have in store…
I really shouldn’t have worried about the flight, BA Club World was fantastic and after a Champagne pre-departure drink I was asleep on the flat-bed before the plane had left the runway at Gatwick (despite being offered the allure of A La Carte dining at 39,000 feet)! continue reading…
Secrets & Dreams Resorts Fam Trip
I flew out to Mexico on November 30th 2009 and stayed at Dreams Cancun, a luxury five star resort that is perfect for families and couple alike.
The hotel is located in the heart of Cancun, so if you like the hustle & bustle of a busy resort this is perfect for you. Dreams also has its own resident Dolphins that are kept in a natural lagoon within the hotel grounds, organised sessions are available if you wish to swim with them or alternatively you can book a ‘Dolphin View’ room that has a balcony that overlooks the Dolphin lagoon. continue reading…
Kenya Safari – The Experience of a Lifetime
In October 2008, we set out on our long awaited Safari to Kenya. We boarded our Kenya Airways flight from Heathrow to Nairobi at 8pm and arrived the following morning at 6.30am, the direct flight taking seven and a half hours

The propeller driven 8-seater plane!
We were met at the airport by our Tour Operator’s representative who drove us the short journey to their Safari Lounge where we were provided with a hearty breakfast and our first cup of Kenyan coffee (highly recommended). Shower facilities were also available for those of us who wanted to freshen up.
The transfer from Nairobi to the Masai Mara was by plane, albeit a propeller driven 8-seater (an adventure in itself). Our flight took us out of the bustling city of Nairobi, over the Masai Mara, landing 40 minutes later on the Keekerok airstrip. Our waiting jeep took us the short 10 minutes drive to Keekerok Lodge which was to be the base for our Safari. continue reading…
