A safari of distinction, fit for royalty, following a classic route through some of Kenya's finest game reserves. Flights to and from the Masai Mara make short work of the long distances, whilst accommodation is in exclusive lodges in outstanding locations.
One night is spent at the uniquely-shaped tree lodge, The Ark, designed with decks from which balconies provide superb vantage points for viewing the animals visiting the salt lick and water hole.

Samburu Intrepids Camp is a luxurious tented camp offering 27 modern tents with a private view over the wildlife-rich riverbanks. The tents have soft four-poster beds and mahogany closets and desks. There is plenty to do here including seasonal river rafting and nature walks.
Mount Kenya provides a wonderful base for a short stay with activities including swimming, walking and horse-riding. The restaurant here offers an excellent variety of cuisine.

Mara Safari Club sits on an ox-bow bend of the River Mara. All 50 en suite tents have views of the hippo-filled river.

DAY 1 MONDAY - HEATHROW-NAIROBI
Fly from Heathrow overnight to Nairobi.
DAY 2 TUESDAY - NAIROBI
On arrival transfer to your hotel for a day at leisure.
Norfolk Hotel 
Historic Tudor-style hotel in garden setting, renowned for personal service & traditional safari atmosphere. The Norfolk is part of Kenya's history. Built in the early 1900s, it has kept pace with the times and offers quiet, elegant, comfort and cuisine of the highest standards.
LOCATION
Set in tranquil gardens, the Norfolk Hotel is only a short distance from the city centre.
FACILITIES
Offers three restaurants & two bars. Leisure facilities include a swimming pool, tennis, fitness centre, beauty salon & gift shop.

DAY 3 WEDNESDAY - ABERDARES

Drive to the highlands of the Aberdare range (180 km) and the Aberdare Country Club. The lodge's own transport will take you to The Ark. Please limit your luggage to an overnight bag (the remainder can be stored at The Aberdare Country Club). Afternoon at leisure or game viewing from the lodge's viewing platforms. (b,l,d)
Ark Lodge 
This well-known lodge, built to resemble Noah's Ark, enjoys a picturesque setting in the mountain forest. The Ark comprises three decks, where numerous balconies and lounges afford excellent views of the floodlit waterhole and salt lick, whilst a ground-level bunker provides superb photographic opportunites.
LOCATION
Situated in the heart of Aberdare National Park.
FACILITIES
Offers a dining room, lounge and bar. Leisure facilities include a game drive, catwalk, numerous balconies & game viewing areas.
ACCOMMODATION
60 cabins with private bath/shower, shaving socket, buzzer system to announce the arrival of one of the 'big five' at the waterhole & views of the forest or waterhole revealing game in the proximity (2 adults and 1 child).
DAY 4 THURSDAY - SAMBURU
Depart for the Samburu National Reserve, stopping en route to collect your remaining luggage at the Aberdare Country Club (225 km). An afternoon game drive. (b,l,d)

Samburu Intrepids Camp 
This luxurious tented lodge guarantees close encounters with Samburu's animals, including elephants, leopards and Samburu's famous 'special five' - the rare reticulated giraffe, long necked gerenuk antelope, Somali ostrich, Grevy's Zebra and majestic beisa oryx.
LOCATION
Perched on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River in the wild heartlands of the Samburu Reserve, this lodge enjoys a unique perspective of one of Africa's most remote and untamed wildernesses.

Offers a riverfront dining deck, bush breakfasts & dinners, romantic sundowners & an open-air lounge area. DAY 5 FRIDAY - SAMBURU

DAY 6 SATURDAY - MOUNT KENYA
Drive to the slopes of Mount Kenya (170 km) arriving in time for lunch. The remainder of the day is free to relax. Mount Kenya Safari Club - dress code is smart casual & no children are permitted in the dining area after 7pm. (b,l,d)

FACILITIES
Offers a restaurant, dining room, four bars & three lounges. Leisure facilities include a swimming pool, horseback riding, 9-hole golf course, croquet, a putting green, a bowling green, table tennis, a beauty salon, bird watching, fishing, an animal sanctuary, game drives & shops.
ACCOMMODATION
115 rooms with private shower/bath & drinking water. Standard rooms (2 adults), superior rooms (2 adults) with feature tea/coffee making facilities, the suites (2 adults) feature a fireplace, one sitting room, a fully stocked mini bar, private veranda overlooking the river and Mount Kenya, and a large bathroom with sunken bath, the studio suites feature a double bed and fireplace, private veranda overlooking the river and Mount Kenya, sitting area, a large bathroom with sunken bath, and a fully stocked mini bar.

Note: Dress is strictly smart casual, and ladies are asked not to wear mini-skirts, and gentlemen are asked not to wear jeans, T-Shirts or sports gear. Long trousers are mandatory. Please note that children under seven years of age are served a special early supper, and are not allowed in the public areas after 6:30 p.m.

DAY 7 SUNDAY - MASAI MARA
Transfer for your light aircraft flight to the Masai Mara (approximately 1.5 hours). An afternoon game drive by 4-wheel drive vehicle (a window seat cannot be guaranteed, and this part of the safari cannot be in an exclusive vehicle). (b,l,d)
Fairmont Mara Safari Club 
LOCATION
Set in the Ol-Choro Oiroua Conservation Area, bordering the Masai Mara Game Reserve, at the foot of the Aitong Hills.
FACILITIES
Offers a dining room & lounge. Leisure facilities include a swimming pool, game drives, nightly activities of wildlife slide shows, traditional dancing and talks on Masai culture*, nature and bird walks in the environs of the Club*.

ACCOMMODATION
50 tents each with en suite bathroom & a verandah overlooking the river (2 adults and 1 child).

A convenient base from which to discover the Masai Mara. The camp is positioned on an ox-bow of the Mara River, so that all tents have a view of the hippo-filled river. The lodge is surrounded by well-cultivated gardens dotted among indigenous trees.
DAY 8 MONDAY - MASAI MARA
An early morning balloon flight over the Mara, followed by a 'bubbly' bush breakfast (optional extra), or an early morning game drive followed by breakfast at the camp. Late afternoon game drive. (b,l,d)

DAY 9 TUESDAY - EXTENSION OR HEATHROW
Light aircraft flight to Nairobi (approximately 1 hour), then proceed with your chosen extension or return to Heathrow. (b)
Light aircraft baggage allowance - 15 kg.
Children aged 7 and below are not permitted on this safari.
